BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING REPORT
Last night shopping was very busy in #Mongkok. Streets were ram packed.
At times there were a few choke points and the Shopkeepers used those opportunities to show off their strengths and skills.
Undeterred by the shows of brute force, shoppers decided to break into smaller groups and shop all over Kowloon, from Prince Edward all the way down to the Avenue of Stars in TST.
Crossing Mongkok streets was increasingly harder as the night drew on due to the shopkeepers parking all their vans down Nathan Road and other streets. Who knew the shopkeepers had so many delivery vans? With them all running their engines at the same time, the Shopkeepers were ensuring that Nathan Road was back to its old polluted self again, even though citizen traffic had been completely prevented from stopping.
Shopping continued until about 6am. Some shoppers roamed over 8km. Shopkeepers were left running all over town trying to figure out what the shoppers wanted and how best to deal with them. Such attentive service. We should be thankful that the shopkeepers are willing to turn up in such large numbers to meet all the shoppers. They’re making a great show, how long can they last?
All in all, the shoppers proved they were fluid and adaptable. If Shopping persists it will eventually achieve results.
The Shopkeepers are hoping that the shoppers will get bored and that there’s nothing they want for sale in Hong Kong, so they better just shut up and go home.
Time will tell.
What I can say is, the Shopkeepers routinely underestimate the desire of the shoppers. They think that they’re not motivated enough and their desire is superficial, and will eventually get bored.
This is a big mistake. Although shopping looks like a game, and the shoppers do a very good job making fun with their dry humour and wit – THIS IS NOT A GAME! IT’S DEADLY SERIOUS.
More Shopping tonight and then Sunday night is a big day in Admiralty.
